Modeling Acceleration

                    Modeling Acceleration

How this shows acceleration is that at 1 second it is about 2-3 meters and at 2 seconds it at 9 meters and at 3 seconds it at 28 meters and at 4 seconds its at 31 meters and at 5 seconds it at 50 meters. This shows the rate of velocity of an object that changes over time. If this where a velocity graph it will be a linear function. Yes this is a good model because the object is moving at every second and I can see the curve line. Also I can see the change of speed and that shows acceleration.

Acceleration

                             Acceleration

A sports car and a school bus are driving and the speed limit is 30 Mph, the school bus will drive a lower acceleration than the sports car because sports car usually have a greater acceleration they tend to speed up a lot. They both will possibly have a constant velocity because the school bus and the sports car distance and speed will stay the same. Once they see the red light the sports car and the school bus will have a negative acceleration since there will be slowing down. For the school bus it will be easier for it to slow down because it wasn't going as fast as the sports car.

GUESS Method

                      "GUESS" Method
G- given: state any information in the problem
Name all the information they provide you, and make sure you include all variables and units
U- unknown: what the question is asking you
Find out what the question is talking about this is where you find the variable you are trying to solve
E- Equation: State the formula you will use
This is where you will need to rearrange you equation until your unknown is on the left side of the equation by itself.
S- Substitute: substitute all appropriate info in the equation
This is where you will be need to include all units with a number in order to solve the actual answer
S- solve: complete the math
This is where you will finish finding your answer. You must include the variable and units and then box your answer
Ex:    Final answer: V=.50/s

Speed And Velocity

                        Speed And Velocity

What I think velocity means in my own words is the speed of an object or person in a given direction. The variable is always v and the units are meters per second. What I think speed means is the rate of an object or person that is able to move or operate, the act of moving rapidly. The difference between speed and velocity is that speed is just something/someone moving and velocity is the same thing but in a given direction.
Example of Average Velocity: Jackson ran from 4 meters to 16 meters in a road within 8 seconds. What was his average velocity?
16-4=?       (finial initial subtracted by starting initial)
12 meters/8 seconds    (using average formula)
final answer:  1.5 meters/second
Example of instantaneous velocity:  I threw a pencil from 0 meters to 6 meters at 3 seconds. What is my instantaneous velocity?

Distance Vs Time Graphs

                   Distance Vs Time Graphs

What we did in class is that we tried to match graphs that had different change of direction and speed. We did a total of 7 graphs and we had to explain what was going on in the graphs. On some graphs the lines where very steep and on some of them they had horizontal lines, meaning the object/person was not moving. These graphs would be necessary in science class because some of these graphs are similar to real life situations, and most real life situation take place about science. Also these graphs are necessary in science class because it shows the distance and time the object has moved.
